Waqrapukara tour will take you to one of the ancient Inca temples located in the Andes mountain range in Cusco, this fortress is built on the top of one of the mountains.
The Waqrapukara fortress was very important to the Inca worldview. waqra means horn and pukara, fortress. For the communities of Acos this fortress is known as Llamapukara, they assure that they are actually ears of a llama that remains alert to outsiders.
Waqrapukara, likewise, is a main Inca sanctuary, this means that it had great political and religious power. It is made up of two groups of buildings.
In the first group there are two groups of rooms separated by a fairly wide central space. These enclosures have passages, double jamb facades and niches.
The second group is comprised of 8 terraces 150 meters long and 2 meters high. you can see two enclosures with double jamb and niches. 5 more enclosures are added that are located at the eastern end.
The beauty of the Waqrapukara fortress lies in the silhouettes of giants that can be observed. Forged by nature as a result of radical changes in temperature, rain and hailstorms, these silhouettes seem to protect the fortress.
